报告人简介:
胡光维,新加坡南洋理工大学电机与电子工程学院南洋助理教授(高端人才计划)。2016年和2020年分别在哈尔滨工业大学物理系和新加坡国立大学电子工程系获得学士学位和博士学位,期间在德克萨斯州立大学奥斯汀分校和纽约城市大学任访问学者,在新加坡国立大学和斯坦福大学获得博士后研究工作,2022年入职南洋理工大学。研究方向为纳米光子学,并发展其在光计算、成像、中红外等应用,发表的工作包括Nature 4篇,Nature Nanotechnology/Photonics/Electronics 3篇,Nature Communication 8篇,eLight 3 篇,PRL,Sci. Adv., etc.。研究成果入选2020年物理世界十大年度发现之一,2021年中国光学十大进展之一,2021年OPN年度发现等。曾获2022年美国光学会20周年挑战奖,MIT Technology Review, Innovators Under 35 (China) in 2022,Winner of Emerging Leader of Optics in 2022 by Journal of Optics, Rising Star of Light by Light:science and applications,新加坡国立大学校长奖学金等。
报告摘要:
Nanophotonics aims to decipher the light-matter interactions at nanoscale for practical nanotechnologies. It emerges because of the capability of confining visible light to nanoscale with metals (for plasmonics) and various nanostructures of metals and dielectrics, which are easily available in our lab and industry. The explorations are also entangled with the metamaterials, metasurfaces, photonic chips and other systems or platforms for various technologies. What is the next territory of nanophotonics? In this talk, I will share my efforts on thinking this question. I will start from my exploration of monolayer semiconductors, to van der Waals nanomaterials (layered 2D materials) and to traditional bulk crystals, where various nanophotonic physics such as atomic nonlinear optical elements, polaritonics, twistronics, and crystal optics will be discussed. These sub-nanometre materials or millimetre bulk crystals, at two extrema regarding scales, may offer new opportunities of nanophotonics and promise various nanotechnologies.
